Gretchen Fullido, a news anchor regularly holding the Entertainment news in TV Patrol, filed criminal charges against two ABS-CBN executives for sexual harassment and also filed libel and persecution charges against Ces Drilon and two others.
In a press release announced by lawyer Marvin Aceron of AVP Law Offices, Fullido filed sexual harassment charges against Cheryl C. Favila, former ABS-CBN News Executive, and Maricar P. Asprec, an ABS-CBN News Segment Producer. The news anchor said that she received text messages from Favila and Asprec filled with sexual innuendos as well as requests for sexual favors. When she refused the sexual offers, the executives made her life in ABS-CBN miserable.
She narrated that because of her refusal of their requests, the two executives made it difficult for her to work as a reporter and news anchor in the network. This went on for about 3 years.
Libel & Persecution
Gretchen Fullido also filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office in Quezon City Libel charges against Cecilia “Ces” Drilon and Venancio Borromeo, news executives of ABS-CBN, and news reporter Marie Lozano. She claimed that the three “besmirched her reputation” by stating that she only filed the charges to leverage her employment with the network.
Fullido also accused Ces Drilon of resorting to “victim-shaming” when Drilon said that she deserved to be harassed because she was willing to don a bikini in the news program just to boost its ratings.
Earlier this year, Fullido already filed sexual harassment charges against Favila and Asprec to the ABS-CBN management. Their investigation resulted in the dismissal of Favila for gross misconduct but the sexual harassment charges were dismissed.
Fullido was the first Filipino news reporter and celebrity to file a sexual harassment case in the Philippine news industry.
